History

Doradca, in the beginning in the legal form of a co-operative, was established in September 1985 by a group of lawyers and economists mainly from the University of Gdańsk (some of them, known as Gdańsk liberals, played quite a prominent role in Poland’s economic and social life during the transition a few years later). At that time Doradca was supported by underground Solidarity trade union.

Doradca, located in Sopot – in the vicinity of Gdańsk, was involved in establishing co-operatives and joint ventures and provided accounting, tax, legal, and organizational consultancy services for Poland's emerging private sector throughout the late 1980's. In the end of this period we commenced rendering services to foreign investors and elaborated first full-fledged feasibility studies for the International Finance Corporation.

In 1992 the Business School of Harvard University published a case study on Doradca and its development options.

In 1991 Doradca was transformed into a limited liability company, with the participation of consultants and Lazard Freres et Cie, a renowned French investment bank. One year later we have moved to Gdynia, to our own office building, in 1992. Doradca has become one of the biggest management consulting companies in Poland, ranked in top ten by recognized Polish business magazines.

Since 1992 we have extended a territory of Doradca operations, starting work on pilot privatization projects in Nizhny Novgorod and Volgograd (Russia). Then we established two daughter companies: a joint venture called Doradca East with a seat in Volgograd and Doradca Auditors (Gdańsk), dealing with the verification of financial statements. Step by step we have launched new types of services: quality assurance, environmental management, sales efficiency solutions licensed by Huthwaite.

Today the shares of Doradca belong to partners-consultants.
